OUR MODEL OF SUSTAINABILITY
Caribe Hospitality develops projects while incorporating the basic principles of sustainability to all its phases (design, construction and operation). In 2011, we created our Sustainability Policy and a Sustainable Management System that contains detailed procedures and plans to follow in accordance with the hotel development stage.
Our Sustainable Management System incorporates aspects such as control of erosion and storm water control, solid and liquid waste management, the rational use of energy and water, occupational safety, an inventory of greenhouse gas emissions, good relationships, among other things.

LEADERSHIP IN ENERGY AND ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN (LEED)
Some of our projects are selected for the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification (LEED), under the “New Construction” rating system, which is the development of sustainable buildings.
These projects include advanced technologies to reduce their environmental impact through the optimization of energy efficiency, reduction of potable water, using insulating materials outside of buildings, low-emissivity windows and other equipment that ensuring the proper quality of indoor air. Also, facilities to access public transportation and utilities, among others.
Courtyard San Jose Airport Alajuela is the first hotel in Costa Rica to obtain LEED Silver certification and more recently the Courtyard Kingston hotel that became the first LEED building in Jamaica, also with the silver grade.
The commitment to excellence inspired us to be the first hotel company to receive the Neutral Carbon certification of the Country Program. The company began its quantification of emissions during the first year with the Courtyard San Jose Airport Alajuela hotel; first LEED Silver certification hotel.
With the process of continuous improvement of the management system, certification was achieved under the ISO14001: 2004 standard for environmental management systems in 2016. With this reference framework, the company is able to effectively manage and mitigate its environmental impacts during the design, construction and operation of hotels.
